Happy Halloween!

🎃 HALLOWEEN is here!

A tempting holiday for kids and adults alike. Enjoying candy, sweets and chocolate are part of the trick or treat tradition, but your #teeth don’t have to suffer for it. A#sweettooth will guide you to the candy isle. Some planning ahead will avoid poor choices though. Here are some #dental tips:

  1. Avoid sticky treats The length of time sugary foods remain on your teeth and in your mouth makes a difference. Candies, unless sugar-free, that stay in the mouth for a long period of time increase the risk of tooth decay or cavities. #gummybears #jellybeans
  2. Chew certain kinds of gum Studies show that #sugarless gum for 20 minutes after a meal helps to reduce the chances of tooth decay. Chewing gum increases #saliva flow and helps to wash away food particles, bacteria and acid that can ruin teeth.
  3. Stay away from sugary beverages Beverages that contain extra sugar, the risk of tooth decay increased. Sports drinks and drinks that contain added sugar can bathe the teeth and cause decay over time
  4. Eating candies with meals is a plus Eating candy shortly after mealtime is ideal. Saliva is produced more readily during meals and helps to flush the mouth of bacteria and the acids they produce.
